Another Technology Barrier Broken With T6218 Printer
TallyGenicom, the first printer manufacturer to introduce an 1800 line per minute (LPM) line matrix printer, again delivers a ground-breaking new product for mission-critical, high volume print applications. The T6218 is the only line matrix printer on the market to achieve a print speed of 1800 LPM with a single row hammer bank. It is innovation in the hammer bank and paper feed system that make the T6218 the fastest, most reliable and most energy-efficient impact printer for demanding industrial print applications.
Speed: The Real Story
"Prior to the introduction of the T6218, line printer speed and print versatility were mutually exclusive. All of the higher-speed models recently introduced by other manufacturers are limited by dual-row hammer banks. This technology (originally developed by
TallyGenicom on our T6180 in 1997) allows maximum rated speeds when printing in specific print modes only. In reality, line printers are used to generate invoices, shipping bills or reports containing a variety of fonts, attributes, lines and, graphics. The limitations imposed by dual-row technology cause these printers to slow down considerably in these 'real world' situations.
Technologically Advanced for Optimized Speed AND Quality
Unencumbered by the constraints of the dual-row technology, the T6218 blasts through jobs containing mixed fonts and graphics at near maximum print speeds. The single-row hammer bank and an advanced four tractor paper drive system deliver record-breaking throughput. A straight paper path and a high-speed, high-torque paper drive, produce higher slew speeds, (the speed at which the printer advances paper when blank spaces exist on the page). In
TallyGenicom's own tests involving three very common print files, a Windows file, a standard invoice, and a POSTNET bar code run, the T6218 outperformed the Printronix P5220 (2000 LPM) and the Genicom 5180 (1800 LPM) by impressive margins.
Page Segment Architecture, first introduced in 1996, is another speed-enhancement made possible by the T6218's proprietary controller. This device intelligently arranges data into page "segments" prior to printing, allowing text and graphics to be printed in just one pass and eliminating the need for time-consuming forms reversal.
Superior Quality for Text, Graphics and Bar Codes
The Tally T6218's bar code readability is nearly flawless-Class A-as a result of our proprietary Read/Right bar code algorithm. Never before achievable with line printer technology, this quality is available on
TallyGenicom's entire family of line matrix printers.
Connectivity is Key for LAN's, IBM Systems and the Web
The T6218 is plug-and-play compliant and provides more emulations than any other line printer. In addition to the standard auto-switching serial and parallel I/O's, a comprehensive suite of fully integrated interfaces can be either user installed or configured at the factory. True innovation and unmatched functionality is delivered in the LanPlex interface which provides serial, parallel and Ethernet 10BaseT or 100BaseT with or without IPDS. LanPlex equips the T6218 with HP Web JetAmin compatibility-an industry standard printer management tool. WebPanel, another LanPlex utility, is an embedded web server which allows complete configuration via the network with any standard web browser. Printer and network interface configuration, full status and diagnostics capabilities, and on-line help are all advantages of WebPanel on the T6215. For the IBM world, the FourPlex I/O adds Twinax and Coax connectivity (with or without IPDS) to the serial and parallel standard configuration.
