T6050 Line Matrix Printer : Price/Performance Leader

Line Impact Dot Matrix Technology (LIDM) is the most reliable and economical solution for high volume printing of mailing labels, bar codes or data processing reports - an invention by TallyGenicom in 1970. Line matrix printing is not only surviving today but also continues to evolve with improvements to print quality, efficiency and functionality.

The entry-level T6050 LIDM delivers the best overall performance at very low price in this class. The T6050 tops out at 500 lines per minute (LPM) and handles workloads to 80,000 pages per month (PPM).

The T6050 is a nice complement to our extensive family of line matrix printers ranging from 500 LPM to the fastest in the world at 1800 LPM. As our entry-level offering, T6050 combines the reliability, speed and economy of line matrix printing with the font flexibility and even optional quick-access paper handling of a serial matrix printer. Significant advantages include outstanding connectivity options, quick-change, clean-hands ribbon cartridges, popular graphics languages at no extra charge, and a table top configuration with an aggressive price advantage.

Comprehensive Connectivity

The T6050 comes standard with auto-switching parallel and serial interfaces; however, optional I/O’s allow for connectivity to up to four hosts simultaneously. LANPlex II or FourPlex options allow for both serial and parallel connections and either Ethernet 10/100 Base-T (LANPlex) or twinx/coax (FourPlex) connectivity.

LanPlex equips the T6050 with HP Web JetAmin compatibility-an industry standard printer management tool. WebPanel, another LanPlex utility, is an embedded web server which allows complete configuration via the network with any standard web browser. Printer and network interface configuration, full status and diagnostics capabilities, and on-line help are all advantages of WebPanel on the T6050

IPDS over TCP/IP

Another advancement in connectivity was pioneered early this year. That is support for IPDS (Intelligent Printer Data Stream) over the Ethernet TCP/IP network protocol. IPDS is a graphic language of AS/400 and mainframe printing environments that enables printing of labels, bar codes, forms and signatures. Formerly, IPDS provided strong status reporting mechanisms from printer to host in twinax environments, but the same capability did not extend to network environments utilizing TCP/IP. Now with the ability to print IPDS over TCP/IP, T6050 users on a TCP/IP network can experience all the printer control and job management that IPDS has to offer for their mission critical print jobs.

Optimized for Speed

The T6050 represents innovations in maximum throughput and overall print speed. A proprietary controller featuring "Page Segment Architecture" intelligently arranges data into page "segments" prior to printing. This eliminates the time-consuming forms reversal typically required when printing text and graphics and allows both to be printed in just one pass.

Constant density font mode also optimizes print speed. When in CDF, characters in 5, 10, 12, 13.3, 15 and 17.1 CPI can be printed at 500 LPM.

Functional, Convenient and User Friendly

The T6050 is the refinement of time-tested engineering geared toward functionality, expandability and ease of use. The standard T6050 emulates MT660/690, DEC LG01, Printronix P600 and P6000 , HP 2564C, Epson FX and IBM Proprinter and includes Printronix Graphics Language (PGL), QMSTM Code V, Tally IG and POSTNET at no extra charge. 

The T6050 ribbon cartridge provides the best combination of ease of use and low-cost ownership. In contrast to the mess and time required with reel-to-reel ribbons, changing a cartridge simply involves removing the old one and snapping in a replacement.
